Getting Started
IBM TechXchange 2025 conference is accepting
Session proposals through April 11
2024 was a year of transition for IBM NS1 Connect. In this first full year as part of IBM, we continued our strong tradition of innovation and market leadership, building on the incredible expertise of our technical team to solve the application connectivity challenges of our customers.
Over the course of 2024, NS1 Connect hit quite a few significant milestones:
Queries per month processed by NS1 Connect rose from 3.24T in January 2024 to 3.95T in December 2024 – a significant increase and further proof of NS1 as a market leader
We implemented new systems for tracking reliability and availability of the NS1 platform, allowing us to further improve the quality of the service our customers depend on
We added over 2,000 new users to the NS1 Connect free developer account, providing fast, reliable DNS services for a wide range of small businesses
We also delivered several key pieces of functionality:
HTTPS URL Redirects, allowing our customers to manage URL forwarding, DNS, and HTTPS certificates in one place
Improvements to our RUM traffic steering functionality, with higher quality decision data representing an ever-larger sample of worldwide internet usage patterns
NS1 Connect UI accessibility and usability - we made it easier than ever to manage alerts and notifications with our new alert center, and started our journey toward full accessibility with WCAG 2.1 Level AA.
IBM continues to make significant investments in NS1 Connect. 2025 is going to be an exciting year full of new capabilities, improved functionality, and (of course) relentless delivery of the consistent service our clients rely on.
Here are a few of the projects we’re excited about for the coming year:
Back in 2023 we rolled out DNS Insights, a feature which provides curated, in-depth data on DNS usage patterns that are useful for troubleshooting. In 2025, we’re going to move DNS Insights into our portal experience, making it more accessible so all of our enterprise customers can benefit from these rich datasets.
Support for multi-DNS architectures has always been a key value of NS1 Connect, and in 2025 we’ll be introducing several enhancements in this area. We plan to add support for BIND-compatible zone exports. We’re also planning to release Cloud Sync, a new service which translates DNS configurations across providers.
We’re going to continue leaning into our strength in RUM-based traffic steering, including enhanced explainability of RUM traffic steering decisions and RUM beacon reporting. These new features will give our clients deeper insight into how RUM data improves their application connections.
While back-end infrastructure and UI improvements may not be the flashiest projects, they speak to IBM’s commitment to delivering constant improvements for our clients. We’re always looking for new ways to add reliability, scale, and speed to our service.
As always, we’ve got our industry-leading clients to thank for their incredible support and engagement. They’re the reason NS1 Connect continues to break new ground and deliver new peaks of innovation year after year. Our technical team remains focused on our clients’ success and looks forward to a year of delivering beyond their expectations.
