Enhance DNS observability with the new NS1 Connect alert center

“It’s always DNS” may be a meme-level joke among network and operations teams, but that doesn’t make it any less trueWhen it comes to business-critical applications, nothing’s more important than monitoring the DNS that delivers those applications to your users.  When something goes awry, a DNS-level alert is usually going to be the first indication that you’ve got a problem.

NS1 Connect has used plug-ins and integrations to alert our customers to DNS issues for yearsNow we’re making alerts easier to set up and manage by consolidating that functionality into one product workflowIn our new alert center, you’ll have a one stop shop for everything you want to track across your DNS enterprise, including secondary zones that are hosted on NS1 Connect.

What you can do with the NS1 Connect alert center

In the initial version of the alert center, we’ve set up zone transfer alerts for secondary zones that roll up to NS1 Connect in a single place in our UI:

In the next phase, we’ll be consolidating a lot of our existing alert functionality into the alert center, making it a one stop shop for everything you want to trackThis includes things like being notified about when you’re about to reach a usage threshold, tracking the uptime and availability of back-end resources through monitors.

We’re also looking to build new kinds of notifications into the alert centerIn the near future, you’ll be able to receive alerts against activity logs, single sign-on activity, RUM traffic steering functionality, and data we process through DNS Insights.

As always, everything we build in the user interface is also available in our API and through SDKs as well.

We currently support alert delivery in multiple formatsWe have pre-built integrations for Slack, email, and PagerDuty. You can also build custom alerts into your tool of choice using a webhook.  Whichever delivery mechanism you choose, you can easily test it out in the NS1 Connect portal to ensure it’s working correctly.
