  • 1.  What is the maximum usable value of spss statistics?

I'm curious about the maximum of spss, so I'm doing various tests.

I am currently purchasing a workstation PC with ample memory (128GB) and testing how much it can run.

Currently, about 4GB of data is being processed, and linear regression analysis takes quite a long time.

I am curious about these results. The data size is 4GB, but I confirmed that all 128GB of RAM is being used. I'm curious why this situation occurs and if there is a threshold or other settings, what is the solution?

SPSS will not normally use 128gb of memory.  The backend, which is where computation takes place, does not keep the data in memory and would use no more than a few hundred mb for most operations.  A few procedures and embedded Python or R code would hold data in memory, but most procedures are native, compiled code.

If you have a gigantic volume of output in the Viewer, that could increase the memory usage, but I can't imagine it ever adding up to anything close to 128mb.
