  • 1.  Can not startup SPSS Statistics Premium GradPack 28 on macOS Monterey 12.4

    Posted Fri June 17, 2022 12:20 PM
I installed SPSS statistics premium GradPack 28 on Macbook Pro with Apple M1 pro chip, and the installation and activation steps went fine. But the application doesn't work. Every time I tried to startup it, the application crashed on startup immediately. Java appears in Dock, and the "stats quit unexpectedly" appears too. I tried everything I knew.
    Can someone help me, please?

Hi, Mohammed. Please go here to upgrade to v28.0.1.1. Please let us know if that fixes the problem.

    Hi,
I tried the upgraded version, but the problem still is that the SPSS didn’t open. I noticed that there are many who have the sample problem, is there any real solution.

My trial period is going to be done before I can test SPSS. I need this application, but I'm afraid I will face the same problem if I purchase it.
    Please help me.

And where is the problem? Is it related to Apple devices or to the SPSS itself?

Some people have had trouble, others not. We haven't. It may be related to read/write permissions on the machine.

Open a terminal window and enter this

    cd "~/Application Support/IBM/SPSS Statistics/28"

If that command fails, then please run

    mkdir -p "~
    /Application Support/IBM/SPSS Statistics/28"

    and then

    chmod +rw "~
    /Application Support/IBM/SPSS Statistics/28"

This will create the directory and give you read and write permissions to that directory.

Then, try running SPSS Statistics again.
