Connect Watson Assistant to your Business Data using Custom Extensions

Do you have data that you would like to connect your chatbot to? Then this lab is for you. Connecting Watson Assistant to APIs is as easy as writing a document.

This hands on lab is designed to show you how to create an API and document it so that it can be used by Watson Assistant. The lab will start by creating a custom API that provides user information when requested. After local testing is complete, the next step will be to create an OpenAPI specification that can be read by Watson Assistant. Finally, the API will be connected to the Assistant and tested.

These advanced techniques can be used for any situation or customization of an existing API. At the end of the lab, users can incorporate this knowledge into their custom demonstrations, POCs, and MVPs.

Session ID: 1815

Date: 09/12/2023 12:30 p.m.

Room: Boulevard 165, Level 1

Top 3 things that will be Discussed or Learned:

  1. How to document OpenAPI specification documents for existing or new API services.

  2. Create an API service from these documents.

  3. How to connect Watson Assistant to an API and interact with the data from your API.

Make sure you register for the: TechXchange Conference from Sept 11-Sept 14th in Las Vegas.
