IBM's Chief Privacy and Trust Officer, Christina Montgomery, went before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Privacy, Technology, and the Law during their hearing on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 on "Oversight of AI: Rules for Artificial Intelligence."

Many of her points underscore the importance of transparency, explainability, bias mitigation, and risk management-- all of which can be managed and addressed with watsonx.governance. As many state and local governments are developing their AI policies and regulations, these are important points to keep in mind.

"When it comes to AI, America need not choose between responsibility, innovation, and economic competitiveness. We can, and must, do all three now."
