What's New watsonx.data 2.0.2

The new version 2.0.2 of watsonx.data has been released July 2024! There are many new exciting features and enhancements related to data sources, storage, integration, and access management.

You can now store your data using Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS) with the new Data Access Service (previously Content Aware Storage CAS) when you submit Spark applications. Better view into storage objects is also available from the Storage details page with the DAS endpoint.

One of the most exciting features with this release is the integration with IBM Knowledge Catalog (IKC). Now governance capabilities are easier than ever with IKC and Apache Ranger to govern data with Presto engines.

Several engine and service features have been improved including configuring resource groups in Presto, as well as using an API to execute queries, retrieve results, and update logs. Additonally available connectors for Teradata, Snowflake, and IBM Informix can now be accurately tested from within the UI,

Lastly, it should be noted that co-located and self-managed Spark engines are deprecated in 2.0.2 and will not be available past 2.0.3. Only native Spark engines can be used for Spark use cases.

Additional information on new features for 2.0.0, 2.0.1, and 2.0.2 can be found in the IBM Documentation for watsonx.data here.

HI Katherine thanks for sharing the update. Like the way, IBM always stays ahead of the pace by updating its products. Testing within UI will be a very welcome feature especially for growth-oriented companies.
