  • 1.  Websphere admin console and the installation manager showing different versions

    Posted Thu March 07, 2024 08:18 AM

    Hi all,

Webspere admin console and version info showing 8.5.5.20 version, but the Installation manger showing it as 8.5.5.19. Because of this, we are unable to update the next fixpack version. Is there any option to match/sync the 8.5.5.20 with the IM?

I assume that the WAS command versionInfo also shows WAS 8.5.5.20 (same as the console) and not the IM version.

    versionInfo command - IBM Documentation

If you talk about a production system, I would recommend to contact the IBM support.

Otherwise you could try to uninstall the fixpack via IM.

After the uninstall, IM and WAS should show the same version and you should be able to install the target fixpack.

This usually happens when WebSphere was patched outside of Installation Manager, so the runtime shows 8.5.5.20 but IM still thinks it's 8.5.5.19.

First, run <WAS_HOME>/bin/versionInfo.sh to confirm the real runtime level. Then check imcl listInstalledPackages -long to see what IM has recorded. If they don't match, you can try imcl repair … with the right repo, or roll back in IM and reapply FP20 cleanly. Once IM and the runtime are in sync, you'll be able to update to the next fix pack.

    cheers.
