  • 1.  Switching between various languages

    Posted Mon May 15, 2023 12:31 PM

    Hello everyone,
I apologize if it's the wrong location for this post. I'm working in a German company that has some offices in California, but most of my coworkers on the tech side speak German. Is there anyway to have Websphere application run in 2 languages and select language on startup?

Thanks for any help you may have

    Hi Daniel,

Unfortunately as of my knowledge there is no such option, you need to set one used language.

    Hope it helps

The question is what exactly you want to achieve.

If you want to have the WAS administration console in German, you must install via IBM Installation Manager (option "modify") the German language pack, then the language of the Admin Console is selected based on the browser language.

If you want to have the logs in a different language, you must define for the server the generic JVM argument "-Duser.language=de". This will make the logs written in German. To switch back to English, you could use the wsadmin command AdminTask.setJVMProperties. Be aware that the approach will create in your log a mixture of messages in different languages, so not really recommended.
