Hi, I have recently upgraded MacOS to Big Sur and after the upgrade, Rational Application Developer RAD 8.5.5 stops working. I can see the Application screen, but I can't click on anything. How do I fix this issue. Thanks.

Also, RAD v8.5.5 was never tested with MacOS Big Sur: RAD v8.5.5 wouldn't be compatible iwth Mac Big Sur.

I'm seeing similar issues with the following version:

Version: 9.7.0

Build ID: RADO97-I20181109_1539

For me, I can click on items in the UI but the content for most of the default views fail to load. As I click or hover over tabs. they will "dissappear" and there are a number of "Unhandled event loop exception" errors against org.eclipse.ui in the Workspace Log view. Also, the application hangs if I try to resize the window.

Is there a version that has been tested with Big Sur?

I have been working with IBM Support on this, and unfortunately, RAD 9.7x hasn't been tested on Big Sur by IBM. I opened an RFE about testing RAD 9.7x on Big Sur and waiting to hear back from the team. But, from your post, it appears RAD 9.7x doesn't work on Big Sur. Wonder what can be done now to make RAD working.

I was able to get a working dev environment on MacOS Big Sur by installing Eclipse 4.17 and the WebSphere Application Server Liberty Tools 20.0.9.v2020-10-08_1337 plugin. I also had to install OpenLiberty 20.0.0.12 to get it the app server to launch correctly.

Depending on your applications requirements, you might consider going straight to Eclipse.
