installing websphere 8.5 and portal

    HI all,
    I need to install websphere 8.5, so I've istalled IBM istallation manager and configuring the repository as in the picture:


    Unfortunately there is no IBM webSphere Application Server 8.5



    How that is possible, i set a repository 8.5, and there is no way to install application server 8.5?
    And also I need to install also wps Portal Server), what repository I have to choose in order to install that

    The repositories that you configured in IBM Installation Manager only contain the latest version which is WAS 9.
    If you want to install another WAS version and have the entitlements to install them, you can either download them from Passport Advantage as documented here:

    no I haven't site number to access Passport Advantage, so I cannot not access to the first link;
    If I choose as a repository (from the second link you suggest), this one

    But I'm not Authorized to Install it ( My IBMid is just the base);

    Anyway I've installed 8.5.5.1 for developers:



    I'm asking what are the difference? and what means ILAN?

    ILAN stands for International License Agreement for Non-Warranted, you can find the license details here.
    International License Agreement for Non-Warranted Programs (ibm.com)

    If you do not have an entitlement for WAS, these are the options available to you:

    Hello Francesco,
    well, I guess that this is because WAS v85 is out of support for a long time. However if you have to install WebSphere Portal the binaries you get from HCL includes the full stack. I.e all the required WAS binaries as well. So get the Portal package from HCL and follow the instructions for the portal installations (which contains steps how to use a local repository)

    I've tryed to download from HCL, but it seems I cannot do that? Are you sure? i mean I not have the possibility to buy a licence;

    Hello Francesco,
    yes, I'm sure that all you need to run and install Portal is in the download package. As Portal is a licensed product I you need at least a development license to get access but I must admit that I don't know the details here. If you are developing code for a customer maybe he can help you getting the dev. license (and the installation package)?

    It is working for me, maybe they were down for a bit... I never use the GUI, just the command line ...

    tWAS v8.5.0 was refreshed to v8.5.5 over 9 years ago

    Fix list for IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5

    You'll need to install v8.5.5 (and fixpacks)

    As far as Portal, you didn't mention a specific version, so you'll need to refer to the Portal Knowledge Center and likely the support pages, to determine what options exist for versions and repositories

    Hi Tom,
    thanks for your reply the version of portal is 8.5.5; But it seems I cannot download and work on it, because HCL dosn't allow that, even if I need just for learning purpose;

    Could you suggest a way I can install wps (web portal server)? version 8.8.5 (but indeed also 8.5.0 is good I just have to take familiarity with this product;
