IBM Cloud Transformation Advisor 3.5 is now available!
If Transformation Advisor is new to you read then read the blurb at the bottom first!

You can find the full list of updates for IBM Cloud Transformation Advisor right here

At a glance TA 3.5.0 gives you a number of great new capabilities.
I created a video that goes through each of these capabilities in detail, you can view it here

Better Migration Plans for WebSphere Base in Containers and Liberty
TA 3.5 now uses the Runtime Component Operator when deploying WebSphere Base in Containers to OpenShift. This aligns the deployment process to what we do with Liberty, and also makes it much more straight forward.

We also now provide documentation to help you go from Liberty in VMs to Liberty in Containers. It lets you combine a boiler plate Migration Bundle with the results of specific commands executed against the application you want to move to containers to really help you get to containers quickly.

Better Modernisation Runtime Comparisons (plus better license management)
We have always provided you with three modernization runtime targets - WebSphere Liberty, Open Liberty and WebSphere Base in Containers. Now we let you compare the capabilities of these runtimes as well as the effort. It helps you recognise what option really is best for you in your journey

We have also added a technology type for each of your applications. This represented the minimum license requirement that the application has based on the technologies that it uses. It opens the door for better management of the licensing of your simple and not-so-simple applications.

Better WebSphere ND Clusters Navigation
We embedded your Cluster information into the recommendations so that you can navigate to your Cluster by name, by the applications they contain and by how they overlap.   This makes it easy to find your Clusters and to jump between them so you can better understand why those Clusters existed in the first place. Then you can keep the capabilities for the ones that are important when you modernize.

Cookie Acceptance

If you turn on authentication   we have to set an access cookie to manage you. Now you will be prompted to accept the cookie. If you decline the cookie, it will be deleted and you will be logged out. Authentication is the only cookie we set (plus the fact you accepted it), and you have to take it if you want to have an authenticated TA instance. There is no way around that one.

Cleanup!

We have made deletion fast and more robust. That's never a bad thing.

What is Transformation Advisor?

Transformation Advisor (TA) is an awesome tool that guides enterprise teams through the uncertainties of migrating existing, on-premise applications to the cloud by providing recommendations on modernization changes and insight into expected complexity and development effort, it even goes as far as creating the artefacts you will need to containerize and deploy an application on cloud. If you are not already familiar with TA you can learn more by watching the episodeAccelerate Application Modernization with IBM Cloud Transformation Advisor on our IBM Expert TV channel
