We are pleased to announce the general availability of IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 SR8 FP25 (8.0.8.25) across all supported platforms except z/OS. The binaries have been made available across all distribution sites as on May 08th, 2024 except for z/OS binaries at EPWT website, which will be made available shortly. This release is based on Oracle's Apr’24 CPU update.
IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, v8.0 SR8 FP25 contains the following key updates in addition to security fixes and bug fixes:
- Features from the latest Eclipse OpenJ9 release, as listed in the Version 0.44.0 OpenJ9 user documentation.
- Change in the encoding of java.util.properties file.
Important Notice:
Discontinuation of IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 on selected platforms
IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 will be discontinued on the following platforms reaching end of support:
- Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 32-bit - effective July 2024
- Linux on IBM Power Big Endian (BE) 64-bit - effective July 2024
- Linux on IBM Z 32-bit - effective May 2025
‘End of support’ in the above notice means that no release binaries or packages will be produced for the IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition, version 8.0 on these platforms after the specified dates and no support will be provided (including interim fixes in support cases).
