What’s new in IBM developerWorks for WebSphere? A whole lot! To start, this past June, the now former developerWorks WebSphere and BPM zones joined forces to form the new developerWorks Middleware hub. This new hub is the developer resource for application development, cloud integration, and business transformation content.

The hub features three tabs:

  • Tutorials & training, where you'll find articles, tutorials, videos, courses, and learning paths
  • Tools & code, where you can access related tools, services, trials, and downloads
  • Communities, where you can link to related Developer Centers, upcoming events, forums, blogs, and social media channels

Since we launched the new hub, we’ve published several great pieces on application development, with a focus on WebSphere for the cloud. Take a look:

How do you move your on-premises (cloud-enabled) IBM WebSphere applications from your data centers to the cloud using your existing WebSphere skills and tools? In this demonstration video, Vijay Bhadriraju, IBM Senior Software Engineer, shows you how you can quickly deploy a secured IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment in the public cloud on IBM Bluemix.

The term "workload" has various meanings to people with different roles. These varied perspectives can lead to misunderstandings, miscommunication, and false expectations when planning to move or map workloads to the cloud or hybrid cloud. In this article, you learn what a workload is, understand the basic model and key attributes of a workload, and see how it fits in a cloud context.

This tutorial describes how to use the IBM WebSphere Connect capabilities that are part of IBM WebSphere Application Server Liberty V9 and later releases, to publish your WebSphere APIs so others can subscribe and consume them.

If you’ve been waiting for a reason to extend your development architecture to the cloud, now is the time with the release of IBM WebSphere Application Server V9. You can create applications with new features, optimize costs for application infrastructure, and connect existing applications and data to cloud services. This article presents a high-level overview of the new features and deployment options in WebSphere Application Server V9.

The WebSphere Application Server Migration Toolkit helps organizations migrate applications to WebSphere Application Server V7, V8, V8.5, or V9. The migration can be from older WebSphere Application Server releases and from such application servers as Apache Tomcat Server, Oracle WebLogic Server, JBoss Application Server, and Oracle AS.

This is just a sample of what you’ll find among the latest featured articles and tutorials in the developerWorks Middleware hub. You can find more articles like these in the WebSphere library. Keep checking back to the hub for new features and resources. In the meantime, follow us on Twitter at @dwmiddleware.

If you have an idea for an article or tutorial, let us know! We’d love to hear about it! For application development, messaging, and integration topics, send me an email, and for process transformation and IBM Connect topics, send email to my partner Amy.
