The DevOps Acceleration Program (DAP) is proud to introduce the first major update to the IBM Developer for z/OS Basics self-paced online course, IDz Basics v2.
In case you are not yet familiar with the IDz Basics course, it is a no-cost online, self-paced learning path to familiarize yourself with the IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz) software. This software in an open and modern toolset that allows you to work on mainframe systems from your Windows or Mac computer. Built on the Eclipse framework, it is extremely feature-rich and combines tried and tested z/OS technology with modern software development techniques.
The course itself has 9 modules in total, taking the student through from basic workbench awareness and navigation to z/OS host connection, debugging, and more. Each module has a short quiz at the end for the student to test their knowledge. The course also includes hands-on labs that are performed on a cloud-based instance of IDz and z/OS (powered by IBM’s Z Trial program) and a final quiz at the end that, once completed, awards an official Acclaim IDz Basics badge.
This release sees the course going completely video-based, replacing all learning content with immersive videos. All lecture and demos in the videos have been filmed by one of our IDz instructors, Chris Sayles, giving the videos the feeling of one-on-one instruction with the added perk of being able to pause or rewind the video. This allows you to follow along on your own instance of IDz (download the demo here) and maximize the amount of information you can absorb by putting the concepts in to practice immediately.
We have also created a feedback and support forum for use during and after the course. We want to encourage the participants of this course to share knowledge and experience, and feel a sense of community over the course of the learning path and beyond.
