Northern Ireland Electricity is a PAS 55 certified Transmission & Distribution utility, supplying electricity to 800,000 customers across Northern Ireland. This presentation will describe the NIE journey to PAS 55 certification, the part that Maximo plays in supporting PAS 55, and the plans for developing asset management best practice in the future. We will also discuss the new RIGs regulatory reporting challenges.

The Speaker

Sam Gibson, Northern Ireland Electricity

Since joining NIE as a graduate engineer in 1993, Sam has worked in a variety of roles across the organisation, but primarily in the asset management arena. A Six Sigma Black Belt, Sam moved from the role of Plant Asset Group manager, to take on the newly created role of Asset Knowledge Manager, in 2012. In this role, he was charged with managing the asset IT systems and integrating them, to ensure that the correct data was shared with the asset decision makers; in short, the role could be defined as turning data into knowledge. However Sam has now been seconded into a project team for the implementation of a new regulatory reporting regime. This two year project will see development and further integration of key business processes and systems to deliver data to an OfGem standard.

Sam is current chairman of the Maximo UK & Ireland User Group, and a committee member of the Global Tivoli User Group. At home, Sam is married to Paula, and they are proud parents to two year old daughter Robyn, and eight year old Golden Retriever, Ellie. They are active members of their local church; Sam's other interests include a passion for aviation and photography.
