Webcast Replay Slides - SOE Conditional Yoga - A toolkit no more, it's now a new language

01/10/15 05:54 PM

SOE code can now bend itself into strange new shapes. The addition of new IF/THEN/ELSE and DO/END structures takes it from being a mere utility to become a whole new z/OS Workload Automation Programming Language.  With the ability to react to return codes of other SOE statements, and even previous steps in the job, the SOE language becomes a lot more flexible and agile.

Becoming more mindful of its environment, it can now:

create variables with file, step and return code information
extract database
plan objects into new object variables
talk to the outside world with the new SENDMAIL and SENDMSG functions
talk to z/OS with the new CONSOLE command
If that's not enough it has new ways to talk to jobs in the current plan, and new ways to ease itself into your flexible workload. Register for this webcast to find out the latest Really Interesting Building Blocks In TWSz.

WAPL 3.4 will be available from the z/GLUE Developer Works Community at - https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/community/groups/community/zGlue

Currently SOE 3.3 can be downloaded from there, I will announce WAPL 3.4 on there when it is released, and can take direct questions/discussions about it on the forums there until it eventually becomes available to download from there.
