About the Presenters:
Carl Kraenzel, Director of Watson Cloud Technology and Support
Carl Kraenzel currently oversees all deployments of IBM Watson for commercial customers such as WellPoint and MD Anderson. Prior to joining the Watson division, Carl was Workplace Specialty Service Area (SSA) Lead and Chief Technology Officer for End User Services in IBM’s Global Technology Services (GTS). In those roles, he provided technical oversight on services in end user device deployment, management, support, and transformation for virtualization and mobility. Carl also was the original Director for development of Common Cloud Management Platform in GTS, and prior to that was a lead contributor in driving IBM’s software portfolio transformations 2001-2005, innovating key strategy and technology aspects of IBM’s portal and software client technologies, as well as Lotus Notes extensibility and interoperability. During his time at IBM, Carl has been instrumental in the launch of several first-release offerings and technologies such as IBM Watson, IBM Desktop Cloud, IBM Smart Cloud Enterprise, IBM Real Time Translation Services, IBM Tivoli Live, IBM Self Enablement Portal, Eclipse RCP, Eclipse for Lotus Notes, Lotus QuickPlace, Domino Off-Line Services, Domino Access for Microsoft Outlook, Domino Web Access, Lotus Weblicator and more. Carl joined the company in 1994 when a company he co-founded in New Hampshire, Edge Research, was acquired by Lotus. Carl holds a Bachelor of Science in physics from MIT, specializing in superconductive circuit technology.
Carson Holmes, EVP, Software Development Experts
Carson Holmes is a management consultant, methodologist, software engineer, and educator. He is the EVP of Service Delivery at Software Development Experts, and President of the Global Rational User Community. Mr. Holmes started programming over 30 years ago and for the last 16 years has helped numerous Fortune 500 IT enterprises across a variety of industries achieve their strategic goals. He is a specialist in IT governance and process improvement and leverages pragmatic methods, practices, and tools that benefit the enterprise IT value stream.
Mr. Holmes is a natural leader skilled at building great teams and delivering solutions that maximize business value. As a management consultant, he is an agent for change and often works with senior level executives to fine tune their organization for efficiency and effectiveness. Mr. Holmes is a proponent of process enactment and workflow automation and leads a new virtual user group focused on Jazz and CLM. He regularly presents at user groups and software conferences, and holds a degree in computer science and engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.
