I stumbled upon a nice webinar leveraging IBM's SPSS Modeler to access data on Z within IBM's Cloud Pak for Data.Timothy Han does a great job of walking through the end-to-end process of establishing access to VSAM data on a mainframe using the DVM connector and then proceeds to build out a project, refined data, and initial inference of data for a model using the Random Forest supervised machine learning algorithm. All told, the video is about an hour in length, but you can jump to specific sections you are interested in. I work to set the table on DVM and then Tim starts the actual demonstration around the 17-minute mark. This is just another example of how we leverage data on Z within IBM's Data Fabric.
