Upload succeeded but failed validation explained

Fri March 30, 2018 11:53 AM

  • Applies to: DataLink 4, Apptio TBM Studio R12

In some cases, a DataLink connector may show a similar error message in status indicating upload succeeded but failed validation:

The error occurs when destination data table and Datalink have Data Validation enabled.

If data contains changes to column names, changes to data type of a column or cardinality change this error will occur.

Troubleshooting

To resolve this error, try the following:

  • Review the change in destination table for time period specified in connector. See the following articles for more information.
  • If this type of change is expected from source data on regular basis, uncheck Data Validation option in connector configuration and destination data table.
  • Approve or remove changes and check in the table.
    • Open dl service account workspace and check out the table.
    • Make changes as shown in Validation Messages Explained
    • Check in table and wait for it to calculate.
    • Run connector again and this time it should pass validation.
  • If change to column name is unexpected, contact source data provider and inquire about the change. In many cases column names can be modified at the source. Otherwise a transform can be created for the column after the upload.

Email notification

When agent is configured with smtp server (Learn more) and connector is configured to send email notification, the following email will be sent to contacts specified in connector to notify of failed validation. If the connector is also configured with archiving, that step will be skipped.
