The following IBM webMethods Service Designers have been released.

12.1.R02 - July 2026 (download)

• Introducing Flow Script in Designer:  Flow Service Language (FSL) is a modern, text-based language for building Integration Server flow services, replacing the graphical editor with a code-first approach. 

12.1 R01 – May 2026 (download)

• Designer now uses Eclipse 4.36 and IBM Semeru Java 21. Check your code for compatibility.

• Designer now provides native support for Apache Avro document types. Developers can create and manage Avro-based document types with schema registry integration, automatic validation, and seamless data conversion.

• Designer transitions from softwareag namespace to the webmethods namespace across Java packages, system caches, configuration parameters, and certain file names. This change aligns naming across the platform and provides a more consistent naming convention. The migration utility assists with these changes where possible. Some customer scenarios may still require manual refactoring and recompilation.

• Designer now supports including full folder namespace when creating assets using dot(.) notation. For example, to define a flow service "order-processing-fs" under sales/orders/, enter the element name as sales.orders:order-processing-sf.

• Designer now allows preserving or flattening schemas combined using allOf, anyOf, and oneOf in service signatures. You can choose to preserve the original schema structure using wrapper documents or flatten schemas into a single document, resembling the payload structure.

• Designer now includes additional flow steps to support common programming patterns.
• The IF, ELSEIF, and ELSE flow steps execute a block of code only when a condition is true.
• The DO and UNTIL flow steps repeat a block of code until a condition becomes true. The child steps that make up the block of code execute at least once.
• The WHILE step repeats a block of code while a specified condition evaluates to true.
• The BREAK step stops the execution of the loop in a DO step or a WHILE step.
• The CONTINUE step exits the current iteration of a DO or WHILE loop and starts the next iteration.
• The SWITCH step conditionally executes a child CASE step based on the value of a variable. The SWITCH step identifies the variable to check. The CASE steps specify possible values for the switch variable. Integration Server executes the child CASE step whose value matches the switch variable value at run time.

• You can now modify document types created from external sources by setting Linked to source to false. After unlinking, you can update both the content and structure, such as adding fields, editing fields, or changing field order.

• Key updates in MSR

• register JWT claims and claimsets.

• specify JVM as a percentage of system RAM.

• Provides single sign-on (SSO) for Microservices Runtime Administrator using SAML 2.0.

• The WmUnitTestManager package now provides a built-in web interface accessible via Integration Server Administrator. Users can view available test suites, execute one or more suites, and review results directly from the server administration interface. This enhancement simplifies validation of services and deployed assets and helps improve productivity.

11.1 R03 – November 2025 (download)

• Introduced the following flow steps in IBM webMethods Service Designer:
  IF, ELSEIF, ELSE, SWITCH, CASE, WHILE, and DO-UNTIL.
• Enhanced code coverage in the webMethods Integration Test Suite component with extended support for the newly added flow steps.
• Applied minor bug fixes and general stability improvements.
• Key updates in MSR:
  • Configuration variables template can now set default values for environment variables and Kubernetes Secrets.
  • Support for user-specified encryption keys for configuration variables.
  • LDAP and CDS groups can be added to allow or deny lists for ACLs (Access Control Lists) through configuration variable templates.
  • New configuration variables introduced for:
    • SFTP server and user aliases
    • JDBC connection pool alias
    • Keystores and truststores
    • LDAP cache settings
  • New configuration variables to:
    • Allow restricted services to execute from a custom package
    • Indicate a package-level global variable
  • Added a new environment variable and startup switch to set the encryption key for configuration variables.
  • Configuration variable templates can now set logger values during Microservices Runtime startup.
  • New Prometheus metrics for:
    • Reporting startup errors (non-ServiceException) and identifying packages with load issues
    • Monitoring hybrid requests on on-premises Integration Server from webMethods Cloud

11.1 R02 - February 2025

• Made it simpler to share packages via package registry with support for single git repo per package.
• Resolved multiple security vulnerabilities.
• Flat file parser improvements.
• Fixed an issue when creating Document Type assets from an XML Schema Definition (XSD) file.
