Connectors in Datalink 4 have a configuration to set data uploads in Current Month or Previous Month. When datalink connector runs it queries the project for fiscal year period of current or previous month as configured in project settings. Connector then upload data into the appropriate month of Fiscal Year corresponding to calendar date.
There are some settings for project time which cause FY to correspond to either past year or a year ahead on the actual calendar.
Example 1: FY Calendar for current month is in the past year.
Project Time in Apptio instance is configured Dec 2015 – Nov 2017.
Fiscal Year is defined by The Starting Period which is Dec 2015 so 12 months from Dec will still be FY 2015. In this case Calendar date of Jan 2016 is Jan FY 2015.
When using this project time setting, Datalink 4 connector running in Jan 2016 and configured to upload data into current month will upload data into Jan Fiscal Year 2015.
Example 2: FY Calendar for current month is in the future year.
Project Time in Apptio instance is configured Aug 2016 – Jul 2017.
Fiscal Year is defined by The Ending Period which is Jul 2017. In this case Calendar date of Sept 2016 is Sept FY 2017.
When using this project time setting, Datalink 4 connector running in Sept 2016 and configured to upload data into current month will upload data into Sept Fiscal Year 2017.
