We now support the ability to enter budgets. Budget amounts are separate from forecast and used to set spending limits at the cost ownership level. Budgets will be used for variance analysis and alerting (when those features come on line). You will be able to compare spending performance relative to budget (approved spending limit) and forecast (current plan). When editing budget, you can enter in amounts for each period or for the year (or quarter), or enter amounts as a percentage of the current forecast.
As a result of adding budget support, we have reworked our tab structure to make it more clear that a Plan consists of both Forecast and Budget. We also restructured the Dashboard pages to better accommodate budget variance reporting that will come soon in a subsequent release. Previously, the tabs were named Summary and Performance; now they are called Forecast Summary and Forecast Variance.
The Performance page is now called Forecast Variance. We have reworked the elements on this page to provide a more consistent experience with budget variance reporting that will be coming out soon. In particular, we now show Actuals and Estimate values as bars and Forecast values as a line overlay so that you can more clearly see how spending performance compares to plan (forecast). We've also changed the chart colors to provide more consistency across all reporting (estimates are grey, actuals yellow, forecast green).
We've added a time range filter for mutli-year plans. This lets you filter the Forecast Summary page to show only the selected time range: 1st year, 2nd year, all years.
To make it easier to filter, we've added a filter bar (highlighted tab in screenshot below) to all tables. This opens a panel where you can set filters on any of the columns in the table, including numeric columns (greater than, less than). You can still setup column filter via right-clicking on the column header in the table, but this provides an alternate "all-in-one" interface for setting up filters.
