Having unified data lineage across all the systems in the organization is critical for data governance, regulatory compliance and increasing productivity. In combination with data quality, data privacy and business terms, it opens new use cases and allows faster answers to important questions about organization's data. This presentation will show these benefits on specific examples. Knowledge graphs have emerged as powerful tools for organizing and analyzing vast amounts of structured and unstructured data. In this presentation, we'll look at various applications of the knowledge graph within IBM Knowledge Catalog, as it underpins several important capabilities such as data lineage, relationships exploring and semantically augmented search. We will discuss the unique advantages that the use knowledge graph oriented storage brings to the product, as well as related challenges and how they can be overcome. We will also demo how Relationship Explorer does visual mapping of relationships between data assets and governance artifacts, aiding in impact assessment, compliance, and efficient data usage.
