This session is a case study highlights the transformative reengineering of SOMPO's core insurance system, initiated in 2014 to tackle operational challenges caused by an outdated, complex infrastructure. Adopting WAS Liberty, the project introduced a streamlined, cloud-ready architecture. This renewal enhances flexibility and scalability, with significant rollouts like the accident insurance system in 2021 and a car insurance system in 2024, supporting up to 600 transactions per second. The adoption of WAS Liberty has reduced operational workloads, improved development productivity, and lowered running costs, setting a precedent for future-proofing in the insurance industry. The project, aiming for completion in 2026, relies on ongoing collaboration with IBM and effective problem-solving.
