Better manage inventory and identify infrastructure risks with IBM Support Insights enhancements

By Chris Fender posted 24 days ago

IBM Support Insights continues to focus on providing risk-based actionable insights for our clients’ infrastructure, enabling additional self-help capabilities and providing enhanced support analysis. We have recently introduced several powerful enhancements.

Inventory Management

  • Integrated the Online Maintenance Management application functionality to provide users with inventory change request capabilities:
    • Add or terminate hardware maintenance

    • Change service level or address

    • Confirm maintenance is not required after warranty ends

To help users understand how to take advantage of this function, a new learning journey has been added to our Watsonx virtual assistant.

  • Added click-through access to Storage Insights for enabled assets, creating an integrated platform for a more seamless user experience and increased functionality.
  • Added the IBM Call Home last heartbeat, which allows users to identify IBM assets that have not been calling home (which should always be enabled to reduce problem resolution time).

Risks & recommendations

  • To better plan infrastructure changes, we’ve expanded non-IBM vendor hardware end-of-support dates for Juniper, F5 Networks, Cisco and Checkpoint devices. We have also added hardware end-of support date and firmware levels for IBM Z. Subscribers to IBM Support Insights Pro can now perform comprehensive hardware lifecycle analysis on all of these assets.

Case metrics

  • Subscribers to IBM Support Insights Pro can tailor support case analysis reporting based on client-defined Custom property dimensions.
