Hi Darla - Not sure if you saw this. https://developer.ibm.com/answers/questions/368722/hyper-v-migration-from-xiv-to-svc.html I would recommend your work with your business partner / IBM CTS to open a SCORE request to validate the compatibility with your specific versions.

Hi Fernando - You could do as you propose, however, there is probably an easier way. You can essentially take one of your CG8 nodes off line, change the WWN on the new SV1 to match the old CG8 and then plug in the SV1. The hosts see a node go away and then come back (they think the new SV1 is the old ...

Hi Arnold - I am assuming you are interested in upgrading the controller firmware: 1. Choose your target firmware stream. Usually this is done based on the required features which can be done using the readme files. Once you choose the stream (7.7.1 or 7.8.1...) the normal recommendation is to ...

Unfortunately no, a Hyperswap volume cannot also be in a replication relationship. However, it does open other possibilities. The following is a high-level example and assumes that ALL volumes are in a Hyperswap relationship and your workload can run in either data center. While I have not done the ...

Hi Ceasar, unfortunately I am not aware of a supported way of doing that non-disruptively. I did work with a customer who was doing the same thing and they ended up creating a separate new cluster (requires temporary nodes and some temporary storage). You can use metro mirroring to copy the data to ...

Hi Bonnie - Yes, you can but if it is a new cluster the easiest thing to do is go ahead and create the cluster then you should be able to set the service IP addresses using the GUI. If you are have an existing cluster and want to set the service IP addresses so you can load the correct code before ...

Hi Lou - There is not way for a customer to bypass the requirement for DH8 or SV1 for TCT. However, I did check and we have a demo facility where we can do a remote Storage Hands On Workshop (SHOW) that you could see how to set up and use TCT. I know this is not as good as having a test environment ...

Hi Darla - This might be better handled in a conversation. There are many important details that are not clear a FEW examples: Is the mirroring done ant the host level (LVM) or at the storwize level? Are you trying to perform maintenance on the storwize device or on a backend controller that ...

No they are separate. V8 was announced today and I didn't see anything in that version either. https://www-01.ibm.com/common/ssi/ShowDoc.wss?docURL=/common/ssi/rep_ca/7/897/ENUS217-377/index.html&request_locale=en I also didn't see anything when I did a quick search of the RFE database. Might ...

Can you be more specific about what you are trying to do? Are you trying to take a RAID array offline for some reason?

VC is upper cache, VCC is lower cache. Not sure what you are looking at but stage and de-stage times can be very revealing statistics. Let me know if you need any help deciphering.....

Hi Dion - Unfortunately there are no simulators or vApps. However, SVC (Spectrum Virtualize) is available as software only (It does not need the SVC hardware). It runs on specific Intel servers today and some functions are not available (RTC hardware assists). You can read more here: http://www.r ...

Hi Nadine - "Spares" are maintained as spare space WITHIN the DRAID array rather than spare drives. The amount of spare space can be modified at array creation time using the mkdistributedarray -rebuildareas cli command. It can be set to 1-4. A rebuild area is the equivalent capacity to one drive. ...
