Hi, Have you checked that everything is ok with your IP network connectivity, and that you can reach other IP addresses on the same subnet? Could also be down to the DS network server being overloaded. Do you know if there are a lot of concurrent connections to the DS8K GUI? If so, try closing some ...

Hi John, No problem. There's not a lot of detail out there on how the turbo performance feature works, but I think it basically utilises CPU resource in the controller to help take IO load (IO read/write calculations) off the individual drives. As there is a lot more "grunt" in the controllers this ...

Hi, I don't believe so. I think the turbo performance licenses delivers a boost in IOPS and throughput, but you could still have a system that uses SSDs without the additional license. Hope this helps. Regards Darren ------------------------------ Darren Sanders ...

Hi, Does this issue occur when the drive attempts to verify multiple physical cartridges, or just the same (single) cartridge? May be useful to eliminate an issue with the actual tape cartridge that the drive is attempting to mount. If this repeatedly occurs with the same tape, then could you ...

Hi, I'm not an HP expert, but the adapter you have stated appears to be a TCP/IP network adapter not a Fibre Channel HBA. It can use fibre cables but for the TCP/IP protocol not FCP. You will need to install a dedicated FC HBA to connect to the tape drives in the TS4300. Hope this helps. Regards ...

Hi Diego, Assuming you only have open systems hosts, and not mainframe, attached to the DS8000, then the easiest way would be externally virtualise the DS8000 under the FS7300. High-level overview would be: Add SAN zones to allow DS8000 and FS7300 to talk to each other over the SAN ...

Hi, We have sold/implemented a number of IBM NVMe based storage solutions to our customers over the last few months, mostly V7000 (before FS rebranding) and FS9150s. So far, performance improvements over their old storage are great, and native data reduction ratios are as we expected them to be ...

Hi, Totally agree with this! There is a resurgence in tape due to everyone desperately trying to implement air-gapped copies of their backup data for cyber-resiliency purposes. And tape still has the lowest cost per TB for long term data retention. The LTO roadmap goes up to at least generation ...

Hi Prem, This can happen when you try to access dsmc using a non-root user. Who are you trying to run dsmc as? If you are running Linux or UNIX you could try the following to check that all the library symbolic links are in place: ldd $(which dsmc) Regards Darren ------------------------------ ...

Hi Prem, I copy and pasted your SQL query into dsmadmc session on an 8.1.6 and it worked fine for me. Protect: PROTECT01>select * from events where scheduled_start>current_timestamp-24 hours and node_name in ('A', 'B', 'C') ANR2034E SELECT: No match found using this criteria. Regards Darren ...

Hi Prem, From within the OC, go to the Reports section and then create a new report using custom SQL queries. You can then enter multiple SQL queries to include in your report. If you wish to know backup events from the last 24 hours for specific nodes, you could use a query like: select * from ...

Hi Prem, Has someone tried to start this instance using a different user account other than the instance owner, e.g. root? Can you check by running a "ps -e" command and look for any dsmserv processes. If there are any, check which user owns the process. Then log in as that user and halt the ...

Hi Prem, The easiest way to do this is to use the BA GUI client, select the file you wish to restore and select the option to show active & inactive versions. The CLI option, can take a long time to run due to the amount of data in the backup table. You can use the "inactive" option: e.g. dsmc ...

Hi Prem, Seems odd that you have 2 library managers and 1 library client? Does each library manager manage a dedicated library partition? Could you check the library and drive paths (q path) on each TSM server, managers and clients. And also do a 'q drive' to check the drive status. Cheers ...

Hi Prem, You could use a third party monitoring/reporting tool such a Servergraph, which can report on external schedulers. Or, if you know the name of the scripts that are being called, you could create queries against the sessions table to see when the scripts start and finish and monitor their ...
