While configuring new TSM 7.1.7 on new Windows Server 2008 R2 I have created instance name Server1 and instance owner is tsminst1 added into db2admns and administrator group but throwing a silly error. Pls help

Could you make sure UAC is disabled and retry the configuration.

Alternate option is to configure through command line.

Thanks for the response, yes I did the configuration manually created instance and other things all is normal now, i have seen this error many times while setting up the New TSM configuration, I checked and verified UAC is disabled and verified the settings on secpol.msc which was proposed as per document. What I am suspecting is

I remember i always run the db2icrt command to create instance and setting up default path and  instance name I am assuming that is the cause because when i read the document carefully i have found we have to run these commands when we are doing instance configuration manually .

after installation i believe we have to create one local user and add that user into administrator group and db2admns group and have to run graphically configuration, what is your take on this because i have created instance manually that is causing the problem.

Hello Prem,

After a successfull installation of TSM server, you have to configure the TSM server so for that
you have 2 method:
- GUI (dsmicfgx.exe)

OR

- Command line (Manual steps)
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSG7_7.1.0/com.ibm.itsm.srv.install.doc/t_srv_config_man-windows.html

Hence, you need to decide which way you want to configure it either GUI or Manual (CLI).

You mentioned you always run the "db2icrt" command it means you are following the manual configuration steps hence, you don't require to follow the "config wizard" again. Follow remaining manual steps (refer above link) and let me know if you have any issue.

Thanks Bharat for details explanation I am doing graphically configuration only but my understanding was earlier i have to use db2icrt to create instance which was wrong for graphical it doesn't require. My conclusion is that may be that is causing the issue because i used every time db2icrt command which was a part of manual configuration and i have not followed other command line process.

Note- My simple query was db2icrt is required to run for gui configuration, you have answered it doesn't required.

Your understanding is correct. There is no need to manually create the db2 instance and then run the config wizard.

You can check if manually removing the instance from using "db2idrop <instancename>" and then retry the wizard,

Example: db2ilist show you instance name so you cab remove it using db2idrop command. A reboot may require post removal.

I've run into the same error before, make sure SMB V1 is enabled.

So what exactly is this silly error?  Please show us the exact verbiage.
