    Hi all,

    I assume I am not using correct vocabulary, so please forgive me.

    Situation: we have IBM Spectrum Protect running and writing to LTO library. We do tape vaulting, move drmedia, and bring tape volumes physical to other location, and bring empty tapes back onsite and check them in as scratch.

    I overheard in a discussion or video something like "automatized vaulting" with the explanation that volumes that would be checked out with move drmedia ar not physically moved but placed in a reserved part of the library, a part of the library not accessible to Spectrum Protect.

    Is this some sw option (additional package, additional license, some setup) offered with Spectrum Protect or is this something I have to ask the library manufacturer about? Anyone knows about this?

    Hallo Igor,
    currently the discussion about tapevaulting with hidden partion is a archtectual concept. If you use DRM with Protect you are responsible to make a driveless library partion and a movement process to select the vaulted Tapes to these these hidden partion wit the responcible libary interface. like TS4500 cli or better restAPI. There are some new player in this area now like exstor to implement a toolset for this we wrote our own here.

    Hello Igor,

    we are offering a solution for SafeGuardedTape out of the box. It's a piece of software to install or we offer a VM image with the software already installed. The software is licensed on the number of IBM libraries.

    Currently we deliver direct connection to TSM (Storage Protect) or Veeam both with IBM libraries.

    Just have a look at Tape Tools
