do you remember the error messages ? Is there any logs to refer ? Please feel free to share your observations.
If you can share the setup details and ADFs configuration details, then i can check with internal team if they can setup & test the scenario.
I would suggest to open IBM support ticket to track this issue.

Thanks for the offers to help. Unfortunately, testing is no longer an option as we had to provide them with service.

Hi Jonathan,
I'm from Ganesha NFS team. I would like to understand more about issue and configuration.
Could you please explain the error which you are facing with ADFs ?
What is the NFS version used for mount option?
Did you see any error in ganesha.log or nfs client machine?
if possible, Could you please run below test and share the result?
1. Enable FULL_DBEUG in ganesha server . Just below command in protocol node.
ganesha_mgr set_log COMPONENT_ALL FULL_DEBUG
2. Start the tcpdump on client machine
tcpdump -i any host <ces-ip> -w <hostname>.pcap
3. Try to mount NFS share on client machine.
4. If mount is working in step-3, then please try to create file NFS share.
Thanks,
Prabhu

We were never able to solve this. We provided an export from a different vendor's storage and it worked. I assume this is more likely a ganesha issue but it is really hard to say.

We have a legacy application on OpenVMS (yes, really) and they are having problems accessing an NFS server we are providing (specifically, Spectrum Scale with NFS-ganesha). The issue relates to ADFs. Specifically, they are saying they are unable to create them and are asking us to configure the server to allow them. From our perspective, this appears to be a regular file. I did find one in their directory tree and see that it is a dot file and contains some special characters. Does anyone have any pointers? I'm presently waiting on a *clearly* documented error message from them.
