Data Protection Software

We are implementing Protect into our environment and I keep seeing the same issue and I’m not sure what the cause is. The manual backups for a node work just fine, but the scheduled backups never start. There isn't anything in the dsmerror.log or dsmsched.log that indicates it even tried to start.

Are you trying to use polling or prompted mode for the scheduled backups?

You have to clear few things post your input I will share my observation.

1. Q eve * * ( for that specific schedule "I wanted to know the error")

2. Have you created scheduler service

3 Did you run the schedule on foreground. "what is the error"

4. What do you mean by manual backup is working ?

Hi,

A few things to check...

• Are you using the traditional TSM scheduler or the Client Acceptor Daemon (CAD)?
• Is the scheduler/CAD service running and defined to auto start using a system account?
• If you restart the scheduler/CAD, do you see connectivity messages in the dsmsched.log with details of the next scheduled event?
• On the TSM server, has the backup schedule been associated with the client node?
