Dell produced ITDT-DCR which displayed Product Operating Hours for Tape Drives.  How else can this information be extracted from the drive?

Why do you need this information? My backupsoftware did tell this information also, so i do not need any other Tool. ITDT will tell you also this information.

If you want to get this information from the drive, i will suggest to read the SCSI Command Reference

    Hi Martin.

Thanks for the info.  Why this info - I have a drive which I have owned for 6 years and have not really used it.  It is the time to sell it and thought a good selling point is to show the operating hours of the device.  Once again, thanks for guiding me.

@colin benn You can get this information from log pages. The LTO SCSI Reference shows this in the Subsystem Statistics log page (3Dh), Lifetime Power On Seconds {3Dh:0100h}. See https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6490249.

Glad to see this was resolved.

A reminder that if you need data like this returned through the library interfaces (GUI or REST), you should use the IBM Ideas site top submit an RFE/Idea requesting the new functionality needed.  You can even search on existing ideas submitted by other users for "Diamondback" or "TS4500" and vote on these existing ideas to make your voice heard!
