  • 1.  Clean Drive Message

    Hello, we have a Ultrium 5 HH3580 tape drive. We changed our cleaning tape and the tape was recognized in DPM. There is still a message on the drive itself that says "clean drive." Is there another process we need to do to get this working right. We had another error that said "required drive resources is not online or it needs cleaning or servicing." We were hoping that dealing with this message would get us on the right track. Thank you.

    Hi John,

    you normally can force the cleaning using the library's GUI. You may also run a "reset drive" before clean the drive in case of.
    Regarding the firmware level of library and drive, are you up-to-date ?

    If all else fails, as a last resort, manually loading a clean tape in a drive that needs cleaning should then cause that drive to perform the clean.
