FS 9200 Buffer Credits

  • 1.  FS 9200 Buffer Credits

    Hello All,
For FS9100 we know that for 16 Gbps adapters the buffer credits is 40 (as described in IBM FlashSystem 9200 and 9100 Best Practices and Performance Guidelines)

What about the new FS 9200 with 32Gbps adapters. Is this still 40?

    Thanks.

We discussed his with Dev. several times and always - even in the 32G world - we got the answer that this value should get agreed automatically by the protocol.

In lots of cases this is really the fact, but it makes sense to observe and if automatic handling is failing and you see really extensive signs of b2b credit zeros on the Ports, step in and change. Keep in mind that there is also a risc that you overload some other connections.

The 32 Gbps FC adapter has the same 40 buffer credits as the 16 Gbps adapter.  This means the full 32 Gbps bandwidth can be achieved at distances up to 2.5 km.
