IBM Spectrum Control provides the ability to set alerts on resources to resolve problems. In addition, it provides diagnostic capabilities to pinpoint those resources affected by an availability or performance issue then generate timely alerts that enable event action. So, it's perfect for setting up alert notifications about mission critical applications in your storage environment.

Imagine you want to set alerts at the volume level for mission critical applications in IBM Spectrum Control. However, you can't find a way to do this specific action.

One way to handle this situation is to map an application to monitor the performance of the storage resources that the application uses. You would then add the volumes to the application group and set the alerts within that group.

Also, in addition to the group solution, you can create a custom alert at the storage system level with the name of the volume as one of the conditions.
