Watch this David Green video that explores how high response time on volumes can sometimes be caused by low I/O rates on volumes. By troubleshooting high response times with volumes in IBM Storage Insights and checking the performance on the volumes and then deep diving into the I/O rates the situation was identified.

Go to the IBM Media Center and to the IBM Storage Insights channel and watch!  https://ibm.biz/BdffjR

Is there a way to filter out the "false" alerts caused by the condition mentioned in the video?

There a few strategies that are recommended:
    • Use the groups/applications/departments feature to organize volumes and then apply alert policies to those groups.  Exclude volumes that you know are not used much from those groups.
    • Use multi conditional alerts to alert on response times at specific I/O levels
    • Many customers organize their resources into groups or applications. So when they say that their XXX application is slow, they can easily tell which hosts/volumes/etc are associated with that application.
