One of the most exciting additions is Defender Sensors for Windows, helping you detect ransomware attacks in real time. If you’re not aware of Sensors yet, they’re a clever bit of lightweight code developed by teams at IBM Watson research. Until today they were only available for Linux VMs, but now you can easily and quickly monitor your Windows systems as well.
Defender Sensors are just one of many data sources that feed into the Defender Data Resiliency Service (DRS) which gives you tools to monitor and manage cyber resiliency across your environment. This release provides support for adding Storage Protect and Dell PowerMax as data sources. Additionally, DRS now has visibility into your Oracle and SAP HANA database backups when protected by Defender Data Protect.
2.0.10 also uses some machine learning strategies to help fast-track your resiliency. All virtual machines in your VMWare environment can be automatically inventoried by DRS and placed into meaningful recovery groups with governance profiles. Sounds complicated, but it means an easier path to protection. There’s lots more in the 2.0.10 release, and you can read all the details here.
