Today’s reality is that organizations are on the digital transformation journey, and hybrid cloud is a very important part of this journey. At the same time, these environments could bring some challenges as they require the ability to manage multiple instances, maintain security and regulatory compliance across locations and control where workloads run.

On March 1, IBM announced the new IBM Cloud Satellite offering to bring a secure, unifying layer of cloud services for clients across environments, regardless of where their data resides. Helping deploy and run apps consistently across on-premises, edge computing and public cloud environments while maintaining strong regulatory controls.

With the availability of IBM Storage for IBM Cloud Satellite, organizations have the option of block or file storage -for their on premises deployments- fully supported and integrated with IBM Cloud Satellite.  The support includes IBM FlashSystem family, IBM SAN Volume Controller, both built with IBM Spectrum Virtualize. As well as IBM Elastic Storage System and IBM Spectrum Scale
These
IBM Storage solutions connect to Cloud Satellite using Container Storage Interface (CSI) and:

Leverage existing infrastructure by sharing the storage between IBM Cloud Satellite and existing platforms, helping to save costs and maintain consistency.
Provide a single namespace across all locations so any application can access any data anywhere.
Get the scalability and performance required for analytics workloads.
