Dear IBM Storage Community,
I am very excited to be writing to you as General Manager, IBM Storage. In a year none of us will ever forget, I’m proud to work each day on delivering industry leading Storage systems and solutions while leading a talented and dedicated team of IBMers. As IBM continues its leadership as the world’s top Hybrid Cloud and AI company, IBM Storage provides a critical foundation for enterprises looking to harness and safeguard their data – and unlock its full value.
First, a bit of background. An engineer by trade, I hail from Ireland and work out of White Plains, New York. My family still lives in Cork, Ireland and in normal times, I split my time between New York and Ireland. I joined IBM in 2007 as a result of Vallent Technologies, which specialized in Cellular Network Service Assurance software, being acquired. Before leading Storage, I was General Manager for IBM’s Hybrid Cloud business, enabling the fastest and most secure journey from the data center to the cloud. I also drove the modernization of the IBM Software portfolio using container technology and delivering the containerized software in a consistent, user-centric manner now known as IBM Cloud Paks.
Before Hybrid Cloud, I worked in IBM Security. When the business was established in 2012, I led Product Strategy and Development that accelerated the growth of the business and established it as the industry leader. Earlier in my career, I worked at EMC Computer Systems and led the Storage Networking software portfolio, EMC Control Centre, during which the company shifted from a hardware-only business to a hardware and software combination.
Having returned to the Storage marketplace, my goal is to make IBM Storage + Red Hat the strongest player in the enterprise storage market. We will do that by focusing on market trends and realities, listening to our clients and incorporating their feedback, and delivering the innovation and capabilities that matter most to drive growth in our business.
I’m huge proponent of client feedback and Net Promoter Scores. So, let me be clear: I want to hear from you on how we’re doing and how we can help you and your organization succeed. Whether you’re a client, end user or business partner, your feedback helps us improve our portfolio and tailor our offerings. Please continue to express your views.
I also want this to be an active community, full of relevant resources and insights and ideas. Share your voice and expertise, collaborate with and learn from the community members, and make it a valuable venue for your personal and professional growth as an IBM Storage user. Thanks in advance for your participation.
I am looking forward to engaging with you here, virtually, and hopefully at in-person events in the not-too-distant future. Until then, please stay safe and take care.
