We did it again.  We are over 3 times the throughput performance than marketing leading competitors1. We are announcing a new leader with the IBM Storage Scale 6000.  But our story is not about just performance, its about how we are unlocking unstructured data’s potential and helping businesses propel forward with business growth and AI innovation by accelerating discovery, eliminating data silos, supporting green and lower cost initiatives and protecting from the unknown.  Our goal is helping customers create smarter ways of putting your data to work.

Businesses have been steadily digitizing for over a decade and, in the process, transforming how they operate and engage the world.  Now enters AI and the disruption of virtually every business process in every industry.  AI and ML are at the forefront of digital transformation with the promise of future proofing, digitizing and reducing the cost of doing business.  Organizations have many objectives for using AI, including improving operational efficiency, improving customer experience and increasing revenue for new markets and customers.  As data is the fuel for AI and its growth does not seem to be slowing down, there’s a huge untapped resource with the potential to create competitive advantage for companies that figure out how to use it.

Now IBM is announcing its ultimate data acceleration storage system to enhance its AI global data platform strategy with the Storage Scale 6000.

To address the challenges of managing today’s data, IBM Storage Scale System delivers a new generation of software-defined storage. It builds on years of experience and couples proven IBM Storage Scale software with lightning-fast NVM storage technology and NVMeoF turbo perfromacne to offer industry-leading file management capabilities and low latency data access. These build on and extend a track record of meeting the needs of the smartest, most demanding organizations. The Scale System is to 100% faster than the previous generation of the Scale System1 and lower power consumption per TB2 making it a great price performance leader. With a simplifed graphical user interface (GUI) the system is easy to configure and easy to manage. Changes can be made online without disruption to the users.  It's a single appliance that is easy to start, easy to grow, supports multi-cloud and mix and match configurations creating a true hybrid global data platform experience.

IBM has 1000's of customers around the globe who are experiencing the benefit of our systems.  The IBM Storage Scale System 6000 is built to meet clients’ needs for use cases such as applying AI to expand medical research, to analyze customer feedback and buying patterns to improve products or services, more quickly identify abnormality in data or traffic patterns that are related to security threats, and improving manufacturing processes using AI to detect in real-time defects.  Based on a client result, IBM has saved a customer hundreds of hours of processing time per week and helped speed time to discovery for critical research by 74% at the University of Queensland6 and based on another client result, IBM Storage Scale System has improved their AI training time by 70%7.
