Migrating an application using SCSI over Fibre Channel to NVMe over FC in a vSphere Environment

By Brian Larsen posted Thu November 19, 2020 09:47 AM

With Vmware’s vSphere adoption of “out of the box” NVMe over Fibre Channel drivers and certification for both server and storage platforms, many end users are trying to understand the real-world benefits and also determine the first steps to leverage this new technology.

Through months of working with Vmware and IBM Flashsystems, Broadcom’s Brocade and Emulex business units established end-to-end qualified solutions tested with real-life applications like Oracle.  The performance improvements in server metrics including “Transactions Per Minute” and “CPU Efficiency” showcase the value of moving from SCSI protocol to an NVMe over FC infrastructure with the IBM FlashSystem.

Brocade Best Practices and video demonstrations can assist in helping you understand how easy it can be to migrate from an FC/SCSI implementation to an FC/NVMe environment.  The “great news” is that these helpful tools will showcase the ease of migrating applications to a new protocol with no interruption in workload traffic.  Refer to the URLs below to access the documentation and demonstration videos.
