Do you want to know the best way to monitor your IBM Spectrum Protect storage environment? We’ve put together some useful links to help guide you through the documentation.

IBM Knowledge Center

To get the latest IBM Spectrum Protect documentation, go to IBM Knowledge Center:

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSGSG7/landing/welcome_ssgsg7.html

Tip: Beginning with Version 7.1.3, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager is now IBM Spectrum Protect. Some applications such as the software fulfillment systems and IBM License Metric Tool use the new product name. However, the software and its product documentation continue to use the Tivoli Storage Manager product name. To learn more about the rebranding transition, see http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21963634.

In IBM Knowledge Center, you can search all documentation for a particular version of IBM Spectrum Protect, including all products within the IBM Spectrum Protect family, from the following link:

Operations Center

The Operations Center is the web-based interface for managing your storage environment. You can use the Operations Center to monitor multiple servers and complete administrative tasks. The Operations Center also provides web access to the IBM Spectrum Protect command line.

Explore the Operations Center on your own to find out more:

In V7.1.7, you can use the Operations Center to do the following tasks:

  • Protect directory-container storage pools by copying the data to tape
  • Optimize data transfer to cloud storage
  • Back up data to Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) cloud storage.

From IBM Knowledge Center, you can read about different tasks in Managing the Operations Center.

Wiki

The IBM Spectrum Protect wiki is regularly updated with white papers, FAQs, and other product information:

From the wiki, you can access the PDFs by release to view previous versions of the PDF documentation.
