Cost-effective data retention for virtual machines, databases, Microsoft Windows file systems, SaaS workload protection, and applications, enables organizations to backup copy data for reuse to on-premises and cloud-based object storage. In addition, backing up data to physical or virtual tape through an IBM Spectrum Protect server offers longer term data retention. In effect, organizations are given the flexibility to save cost by choosing where their data lives. In choosing data copy options with cloud services such as IBM Cloud Object Storage service, AWS, and Microsoft Azure clients have many options.
As data continues to grow exponentially, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus enables organizations to achieve cost-effective data archival through integration with Amazon S3 Glacier, Azure Archive, and IBM Cloud Object Storage Archive. Additionally, you can archive to physical tape and VTL through the IBM Spectrum Protect server.

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus protects a wide range of workloads including Microsoft SQL, MongoDB and Oracle databases. SLA policies can be defined to run on a schedule to protect persistent volume. IBM Spectrum Protect Plus provides Representational State Transfer (REST) application programming interfaces (APIs), enabling an application client to use storage management functions. Otherwise the REST API can be employed for born-in-the-cloud applications.
