We use AU.S - MVS Tables - SMFSUBOP from a CKFREEZE that is not very small, about 32,000 tracks. There were a lot of DB2 configuration records in the freeze, some 300MB worth of CICS region records and 600MB of CICS transaction records. But, you would expect the active SMF record types to be ... compact, right?
To make the discussion easier, I extracted the relevant CARLa code:
newlist type=smfopt
display subsys record active desc
So, what would be the region requirements, you think? zSecure 3.1.
To my disappointment this simple newlist would not even complete in 100MB + 6GB, whereas a simple newlist type=system from the same input worked fine using 32+2304KB+16MB.
Duh?
