We need to send emails from ISIM during account creation to people who are not ISIM users.

I know there are multiple workarounds (for example, creating dummy users for the emails), but we need more of an "approved" solution as we have multiple use cases which need this. For example: needing to notify managers who are not yet ISIM users.

I understand some have solved this with extensions. Any experience of any extensions that hold up against upgrades and don't break the first time a version changes?

Anyone come across other ways of sending emails from ISIM to non-ISIM people?

We'd also be happy just to hear if anyone is successfully using Extensions in ISIM7, especially mail related ones.

If you have a setup that runs in the appliance version of ISIM and are willing to share an example, it would be much appreciated.

I have no work on extensions to support email - but as the extensions extensibility of ISIM 6 and 7 is the same let me point to an extension that can solve your problem although it is an overkill in the actual example - but it is has proven very useful in other integration situations (and it includes the source code so that you can use it as an example) : TDI Workflow Extension

The beauty of the above extension is that it allows you run ANY SDI assemblyline you want and of cause passing what ever data you need to the AL (and get the result returned). It was originally developed to support an advanced ISIM integration with an external ordering portal (think servicedesk application) using the HRFeed as (role) request source to ISIM over MQ and then using the extension to handle the output/result back to the application over MQ again.

It has been running stable in production for many years so it is battle proven...

Originally the ISIM VA had some problems with extensions such as not allowing custom property files - but that should all have been solved long ago.

I know this does not answer your question directly - but a little promotion of the above extension is not bad - and it can solve your problem....

I forgot - I would like to see this as an RFE to our Offering Management - the Mail extension in ISIM could use some long overdue improvement such as CC/BCC and custom email support - these are relatively simple things that is technically not a big problem to add IMHO...
