We all know security education is an ongoing endeavor – but there's no reason we can't celebrate the 'back to school' season with a fun Community-wide contest. So, let's all go back to security school!

To participate, reply to this discussion thread with an answer to the following question:

How has the IBM Security Community helped advance your product knowledge?

Feel free to share a tip you learned during a webinar, a suggestion a fellow product user gave you at an in-person meeting, or a piece of advice discovered on the discussion boards.

Bottom line: If you learned it on Community and it helped make your job easier, share it here for a chance to win! And don't forget to call out the product you're describing with a hashtag — for instance #QRadar — as well as #BackToSecuritySchool

School, Back-To-School, School Starts, Mood, Learn

This contest will run until Sunday, September 1st. A random winner selected from all the posts will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and s/he will receive a very special swag bag full of IBM Security goodies!

IBM security Communities provides a great source of knowledge, tips, Q&A, and deep information that helps us do our job easier without wasting our time. Personally, I'm subscribed to #Guardium, #QRadar, and #MaaS360 communities and as a sales person, these communities have helped me preparing in advance to questions that customers have made me, so having the correct answer to them has been very helpful. Please contunie this hard work #BackToSecuritySchool.

I am working on #QRadar for multiple customers through IBM'S business partner. At times when I encounter anything new, my very first step to get familiarity with that stuff is to see #IBMSecurityCommunity. In most of the times, I get my desired information. I really appreciate the contribution of people here and specially IBM for serving the security admins against the cyber threats.

    Hi all,
First and foremost I would like to thank  @Jennifer Tullman-Botzer for providing the opportunity to share what I learned from IBM's online Community forums via the #BackToSecuritySchool season. It is indeed difficult for me where to start and end my answer. The IBM Security Community has helped me a lot at my journey in Security industry right from knowledge and learning process to Certifications and job. I owe my present success to IBM Security Community and similar other communities such as of Data Science and IoT too as well as the resources of IBM such as the White papers, courses, red books, webinars, etc.

I have a tendency to learn concepts and implement them by correlating facts from various domains. I am a core Cyber Security person at heart but due to my interest in Data Science, I started learning and advancing by correlating DataScience and CyberSecurity. It has been over a year for me now and doing so I have learned a lot about both of the domains. To be specific IBM's Communities have helped me until now in the following:-
    1. IBM Asia Pacific Skills Academy's Application Security Engineer Mastery Badge and Security Intelligence Engineer Mastery Badge: IBM's Security Learning Academy's courses of #AppSec and #QRadar #QRadarUBA have helped me get hands-on experience with those technologies and software that led me to secure both of the Badges with excellent scores. The IBM AppScan software trial provided is quite beneficial in clearing the Application Security Engineer Certificate. The QRadar on Cloud and Threat Intelligence XForce platform provided helped me clear my Security Intelligence Engineer Certificate.
    2. Deep Interest in QRadar and pursuing the MSU Badges: I secured the IBM QRadar SIEM Foundation Badge from the #MasterSkills University track. I have posted my doubts in the forums and communities and have received replies and response from experts resolving my queries in no more than a day. This led me to advance in QRadar and other SIEM tools as well as develop a deep interest in SOC, NOC, Threat Intelligence, Red-Blue-Yellow Teams, etc.
    3. Correlation of Machine Learning and Cyber Security: Since, having an year of experience in handling the QRadar CE v7.2.1, and I was already learning Data Science and Machine learning from IBM's Coursera courses as well as Cognitive Skills platform of IBM; I developed custom .ps and .bat scripts to prevent Zero-day Attacks of HeartBleed and WannaCry Ransomware by focusing on the Variable Payload Size and Behavioral Analytics, and integrated it with my QRadar SIEM deployment along with some custom BBs and Rules to be set up inside QRadar. I started learning out how the attacks are flagged immediately by QRadar dashboard as I performed a setup of Offensive-Defensive attacking devices from Desktops and laptops.
    4. A Career in IBM: I foresaw the probability and possibility of mine getting recruited at IBM right after my Graduation.
Some of the experts who helped me excel in my career knowingly and/or unknowingly:-

Again this year is my Final Year of Graduation, all of the communities and resources of IBM are going to help me once again in clearing two of the Certs viz. Blockchain Developer and Predictive Analytics Modeler. I will definitely try to secure Mastery Badges in both of them too. So, the answer to the Question --> How has the IBM Security Community helped advance your product knowledge?
is IBM Security Community has helped me initiate as well as advance into the products such as QRadar, AppScan, BigFix, Guardium, etc. by providing many kinds of resources, experts' guidance and moreover a platform to connect and discuss regarding those products.

The IBM Security Community has increased my knowledge as well as increased my awareness of security related concerns.
We are currently evaluating IBM Data Power from a DMZ / Proxy perspective looking to potentially leverage the deep and ever emerging security framework being offered by this IBM product.
