Compliance notifications inconsistent when users remove control

  • 1.  Compliance notifications inconsistent when users remove control

    Posted 12 days ago

We have a client who has installed supervisor mode on his iPhones using the Configurator rather than ABM/DEP.

He is experiencing issues where there is inconsistency in notifications being sent to admins when users enrolled in MaaS remove control at the device level.  Sometimes the notifications are received and sometimes they are not.

Any thoughts on this and does anyone think using the Configurator may be part of the issue?

    Hi Mitch,
The most likely culprit is device resets or lack of network connectivity.  If control is removed by deleting the profile or similar action, the device is able to report back that it is no longer managed.

In some scenarios, when a device is factory reset, or if it doesn't have proper network coverage when control is removed by the user, it is unable to report the status back to us, which can result in aging device records, rather than a "User Removed Control" status.  It's usually suggested that they have a report or a group that looks for devices that haven't reported in to MaaS360 in 'X' amount of days (5-7 is usually a good starting point).
