A docker container image is a lightweight, standalone, executable package of software that includes everything needed to run an application: code, runtime, system tools, system libraries and settings. In 2019, IBM introduced z/OS Container Extensions (zCX) which enable the deployment of Linux-based docker containers on z/OS. Therefore, Linux-based software, such as the KMIP-compliant Security Key Lifecyle Manager (SKLM) for Linux, Unix and Windows (LUW), could be containerized and deployed in a z/OS environment. Watch this session to hear about our journey to containerization for SKLM.
