Enrollment using QR code in Android Management API

This document outlines the QR code enrollment process for both administrators generating the code and users enrolling their devices. The QR code provisioning method streamlines corporate-owned Android device enrollment through a simple scan. The QR code contains enrollment settings, automatic enrollment credentials, and a WiFi payload. This method eliminates the need for manual data entry and reduces manual errors. You can download and share the QR code to allow users to self-enroll their devices.

Note: This is supported only on Android 9+ devices.

Prerequisites: Enabling Modern Android Enterprise

Generating a QR code in MaaS360 portal for Device Owner

Follow these steps to generate and download a QR code in the MaaS360 portal:

  1. From the MaaS360 Portal Home page, navigate to Devices > Enrollments.
  2. Click Other Enrollment Options and select Android > Android Device Enrollment. The Android Device Enrollment wizard is displayed
  3. In the Enrollment Mode section, select a QR code. And select Modern Android Enterprise in Android Mode. For information about other enrollment settings, see Choosing the enrollment method using Android Device Enrollment Wizard.
  4. Click Create. A QR code is generated.

Generating a QR code in MaaS360 portal for Profile Owner 

Follow these steps to generate and download a QR code in the MaaS360 portal: 

  1. From the MaaS360 Portal Home page, navigate to Devices > Enrollments. 

  1. Click Other Enrollment Options and select Android > Modern Android Enterprise Token.

     

  1. A static QR code is generated.

Generating a QR code in MaaS360 portal Using Add Device 

Follow these steps to generate and download a QR code in the MaaS360 portal: 

  1. From the MaaS360 Portal Home page, navigate to Add Device. 

  1. Select Modern Android Enterprise in Android Enterprise Mode.

      

 

  1. See Adding devices in the MaaS360 Portal for more information. 

  1. Click Send Request 

  1. MaaS360 sends an enrollment request to the specified device. When a user receives an enrollment request, the user must download the ADP app. After the user installs the app on their device. User can initiate enrollment using ADP app. 

Enrolling devices using the QR code 

  1. As an administrator, you can either enroll the devices or download and share the QR code with users to allow them to self-enroll their devices. 

  1. Follow these steps to enroll devices using the QR code: 

  1. During initial setup or after a factory reset, tap the Welcome screen multiple times in the same spot. 

  1. Choose a wifi network and let the device download the QR reader. 

  1. Scan the generated QR code and agree to the terms and conditions. The ADP app will be downloaded, and the enrollment process will begin automatically.
